Friends who have known us from our days of living in Charlottesville and Evanston joke that we have gone from having a commuting relationship with each other to having a commuting relationship with a child, and it is starting to seem that way.

Update (September 2005; April 2006): Back in May, I realized that if I kept telling the story here, it would just become too long. So I revised the website and I now continue the story, and provide Neung-related anecdotes, in a blog of sorts. To put it mildly, the story has taken quite a twist since then...

As well as visiting Neung, we wanted to help the whole family rebuild their lives. To that end, we provided them with various supplies over the past several months. While in the camp, Sanam started work to establish a small business, growing plants for future sale. We purchased a pick-up truck for them to allow her to sell these plants at local markets (and also in the hope that Neung would spend less time being transported by motorcycle). In September they finally received a new house, and we helped them to equip and furnish their new home.
